Kilted Mile and Other Good Times

Friday
1) The recession has does wonderful things and aided thinning out the obnoxious First Friday crowds in Chinatown.

2) Bar 35 is now more tolerable as the masses have ebbed, but my beloved Chimay is no longer a Happy Hour special. Sad.

3) There's a fantastic hot pot restaurant, a hole in the wall, on the mauka end of Maunakea Street in Chinatown: Hawaii Lamb Shabu Shabu. Just remember, you're in Chinatown not in Tinseltown. Don't forget to BYOTsingtao.

Saturday
4) The Scottish Hawaii Festival at Kapi'olani Park is the place
to be.
5) I. Love. Kilts. More specifically, burly men in kilts, tossing heavy objects far, far away. Yay.
6) My sister ROCKED in the highland games. She rocked the heavy events, not the dinky housewives competition. Two stone weight tossed 12 feet overhead in the Weight and Height. That's my girl!

Sunday
7) Though my sister rocked it in the games yesterday, she'd paying for it today. I will remember to train before I compete next year.
8) Did I mention that 3D is the way to go when viewing cartoon movies? Monsters vs Aliens @ Ward. Check it out if you've got a little one.
9) I need to unwind with baking, but I always seem to run out of time. Can't start late if dough needs time to rise. Maybe next weekend. Maybe.
