Day 2

Day 2 of the fall semester. Day 2! So exciting. And in that spirit, here are my weekend lessons learned.

Friday:
1. When all my friends have plans that don't include me, the bartenders at Ryan's Bar and Grill are more than happy to take care of me.
Mr. Joel Bartender... You. Are. Awesome.
2. Watching the UH game at Ryan's was better than I'd anticipated because there was no crowd. Yay, First Friday.
3. I don't look like someone who would be watching a football game alone at a bar despite my empty basket of fries, half empty (or half-full?) glass and frequent commentaries with the 'tenders. At least not to the middle-aged woman who sat next to me in the last 7 minutes of the game and, when I got up to use the restroom, moved my stool 'cause she assumed I'd left for the evening. WHAT?!?

Saturday:
4. I'm glad my mother never let us have toy guns when we were children. It keeps me sufficiently frightened of them.
5. I am not scared enough because now all I want to do is shoot guns. At targets. Not people!
7. Preparing for the Apocalypse is harder than I thought, but if I want to be able to shoot a rat for dinner, I must keep practicing.
6. I'm not half bad at hitting the inanimate target at the indoor range. In my booth. Without distraction. Not sure what will happen when I get moving targets, but something tells me I'll miss.
7. The 9mm pistol kicked me. Hard.

Sunday:
8. Andagi Dog @ Okinawan Festival: 2 thumbs up.
9. Just because the niece is 9 and begged to go on the Jurassic Survivor bouncy house/obstacle course thingy, that doesn't mean she can handle.
10. I am stronger than I look and can lift said 9-year-old niece over the high barrier and out of bouncy house because it was "just too slippery and too high up."
11. I look like a mom. Do I act like one too? "Hi, Mrs. Howdeshell, long time no see. No, she's not my daughter. No, I'm not married. I don't know why. Yup, just like your sons... we are busy with other things in life. Yeah. Haha, ok, someday maybe I'll get around to it. Yeah, ok, BYE!
12. Tan Tan Ramen @ Goma Tei: 2 thumbs and 2 big toes up. Up. Up. Up.

Monday:
13. Kiddie pool in backyard = good times on a hot afternoon.
14. I must get a bathing suit.
15. Who doesn't love eating off Finding Nemo paper plates and placemats? I mean, really?!?
