First you put one foot out...

And then you jump right into the blog!

Welcome to the first post from your trusty FAO. So what's this blog about? Anything that comes to mind, really. Of course I'll post interesting things I find regarding education 'cause, well, that's what we do here. I'll post all sorts of other things I find intriguing in the world around us.

Who am I? You'll figure that out soon enough, I'm sure. I've joined the esteemed echelons of higher education after six and a half years in the wild and unruly world of media. OK, it wasn't really "unruly"... we had rules... like... use coasters under the beer bottles, no hazing the interns and don't let daylight touch the production department 'cause they'll evaporate as all nightcrwalers do when exposed to the sun's deadly rays.

So what did I find interesting this morning?
According to The New York Times, you may be bored, but your brain is tuned in. Really? Then I was right at my board meeting last night... I was multitasking. Ha, take that!

And speaking of boredom, the University of Texas cheerleaders know how to combat that. According to the Dallas Morning News, participants in the university's cheer camp tried something that I'm sure their frat brethren have tried countless times before. Um, yeah, anyone know (or care) what happens when 26 cheerleaders squeeze into an elevator? Learn, my young scholars, learn from their exploits.

OK, that's it for the first post. I'm working on the Assembly website and I must finish it before I forget how to blink. Hey, a girl's gotta start somewhere!

RE: the NYT article: SNORE!

Re: dumb cheerleaders: there is a reason why it was first done in phone booths, there was no suspending in mid air between floors. Leave that kind of stunt for Chris Angel please!

Yeah, the NYT is totally boring. But it's good to know that my brain is still checked in while I read the daily blah, blah, blah. Wait. Did I learn that from reading the Times?

BTW: GREAT blog title!

KC: Cheers... a witty friend coined the title. I defer to her astuteness. I hope I thanked her for lending me her brilliance, but just in case, I think I'll thank her again. Thanks.

Welcome to the bloggerverse! billso.com is still cruising along, although I'm taking a break for the next 10 days. It's been a busy summer for me, but last summer was a bit crazier when I was the Faculty Assembly chair.
