I'm sure you've heard the buzz by now... Cokie Roberts spoke her mind on Barack Obama's vacation plans in Hawai'i and how she perceives this as an indulgence in a foreign, exotic place. Hawai'i is a foreign concept for many, an exotic destination away from the smog and chaos of the city. I've been enveloped by smog and chaos. I've marveled at the spectacles and stood gape mouthed in awe. I've always come home and breathed the sweet air of the Ko'olau. I've bathed in the ocean to wash away the soot and grime.
Yeah, I can see how Hawai'i would seem like a foreign, exotic place. Lucky us!
